World Diabetes Day

Today is World Diabetes Day (WDD). This holiday was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) and became an official United Nations Day in 2006. The date was chosen as 14 November, because that is the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in 1922 with Charles Best.

You can get involved by taking a selfie with a blue circle, the global symbol for diabetes awareness, using their app: https://worlddiabetesday.org/resources/wdd-2019/blue-circle-selfie-app/
