October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In the United States, breast cancer is anticipated to affect one in eight women at some point in their lives. This year alone, over 310,000 women and 2,800 men in America are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and sadly more than 42,000 women and more than 500 men will die from the disease. However, the five-year survival rate is 99% when breast cancer is detected in the early stages, so awareness, screening, and prompt treatment are key to helping ensure a positive outcome. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has some great resources to learn more about breast cancer detection and treatment: https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/.
